What goes around comes back around

‘Are you even ready to do this?’, asked Tina with a grin on her face.
As she saw Madhav’s whole body perspiring. His eyes were craving for what was in store next. But there was this sense of guilt, this reluctance that was stopping him. He tried to brush away her body, but it had already begun. There was no turning back. He could feel her lips touch his lips. That wet sensation with a tinge of strawberry musk made it even harder for him to say no to the constant bombardment of kisses that were being volleyed on his entire face and neck. He was drawn into the process of creation, inexperience made him a passenger in a vehicle without a steering wheel. But he took control, stripped her down, carried her to the bed and what followed satisfied both, to such an extent that Madhav completely forgot about Layla.

He had crossed all boundaries. He knew this would not end well. How could he be so casual in-spite of being in a relationship that was intact for more than one and a half years. He loved her but it turned out to be someone else who ended up burning down his ethos of celibacy.

Layla smiled for a second. At first she did not want to believe it. She almost laughed in disbelief, but she knew how Madhav was and how he reacted when he was telling the truth. Her face just started eroding, Madhav could see tears falling down her eyes. He knew what to do. ‘I just need to hug her’ said his conscience. He had barely made a step towards her, when a hand landed on his left cheek. ‘You cheat’ she shouted. Madhav still pounched towards her. He knew what he had to do. She seized, shouted ‘how dare you? do you have no shame?’. Madhav made a final attempt, she was in his arms. She wanted to escape, but he held on as he shouted ‘ I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I love you. I really do, I’m really sorry’. She was still crying. Eventually she hugged him too. It was all okay now.

It was a fresher’s party. He knew it would end up being a long day. He detested pubs. There was no booze, and he could only rely on a pack of cigarettes that he was carrying along with him. He had taken a ‘bhola’ in the morning. Just to stay happy. The party was moving sweetly. He ended up sarging a girl for her number. He succeeded. They danced together and then parted ways.
It was 7 o clock, the party had ended. Madhav started talking to juniors outside the pub. One conversation led to another and he finally said, “It has been 2 years, that we are together”
Junior 1: ‘You never said you had a girlfriend’.

Madhav: “Well its really hard to get one, but she is one hell of a woman’.

He got in the car and deboarded at Hauz Khas. He had to take the subway to make his way into the metro station. He started sliding down the ramp, when he heard his phone ringing. It was Layla. He picked it up. ‘Hey what is up? You know what it was a splendid party and……..”

‘Stop’, said Layla
‘I need to talk to you.’

Madhav: Yes. Bolo

Layla: I think we should break up.

Silence. Madhav could see beggars and street vendors engaged in their business. A beggar approached him. He brushed him aside and started moving slowly towards the exit.

Madhav: Are you sure? I mean, We were so happy.

Layla: I’m in love with Roshan. He just loves me more than you can ever.

Madhav: Roshan? He took you to bed. He forced it upon you. and now you like him.

Layla: He never forced me. I willingly obliged.

Madhav: So all these months, you’ve been bashing me for sleeping with Tina and you are telling me that what happened between you and Roshan in Rajasthan was all consensual ?

Layla: Yes. It was.

Madhav: But…….how,……

Layla: Remember. Ye hona hi tha tumhare saath. (What goes around comes back around)
